Luxury Yacht Chartering in the Caribbean
For a winter yacht charter destination that’s not too far away from home, the Caribbean has to be a first choice. Warm, sunny, dry days and pleasantly cool nights. Not surprising therefore that from December through to the end of April motor yachts and sailing yachts of all lengths make this their winter base giving an amazing choice for charterers. The Caribbean has some of the best sailing in the world with steady trade winds. There are beautiful quiet anchorages, fabulous beaches and many places to visit ashore including historical sites with forts and old military lookouts and quaint villages with bars and excellent restaurants. Water-sport lovers can enjoy dive sites and ideal conditions for a wide range of water-sport toys. Yacht Charters in the Leeward Islands
An arching string of island jewels stretching some 200 miles from Anguilla in the north to Dominica in the south, the Leeward Islands together with their more southerly sisters, the Windward Islands, form the Lesser Antilles situated on the southeast edge of the Caribbean Sea. All of these island gems are enchanting and each has it’s own individual charm – be it nature-blessed, such as St Kitts’ rainforested slopes and black sands or the pink & white hues of Barbuda’s beaches - or - be it the cultural diversity reflected in the cuisine, architecture and languages. Too vast to cover in one week, they offer many years of wonderful chartering adventure. But those in the northern most part of the chain are easily sampled in a one-week charter and will certainly leave you wanting more. Your journey begins with jaunty, lively Antigua and her serene, peaceful sister, Barbuda. From there, a 40-mile sail west finds you on the unspoilt and luxuriantly green island of Nevis. Then, for a change of pace, on to chic St Barths, with it’s unique blend of French and Swedish charm, before sailing up to Anguilla at the northern tip of the Leewards. Your adventure ends in Simpson Bay on the Dutch side of Sint Maarten.
Yacht Charters in St Lucia, St Vincent & The Grenadines
The southern part of the eastern Caribbean islands chain is known as the Windward Islands. While the entire Lesser Antilles chain offers some of the finest yacht charter venues on the planet, this part of the group really does have it all, particularly for those seeking the beauty and tranquility of nature without foresaking the comfort of a bit of luxury. From five-star resorts to awe-inspiring mountain scenery to deserted islets with brilliant white-sand beaches, this region offers a most effective cure for those winter-time blahs. Like any yacht charter, it's unwise to try to take in too much, but limiting your holiday to the larger islands of St. Lucia and St. Vincent and the gem-like Tobago Cays in the Grenadines will allow you to sample the many flavours the Windwards have to offer. As always, your yacht and its crew will accommodate any combination of these islands and experiences, and serve not only as a vehicle for moving about, but as a luxury refuge unto itself.
Yacht Charters in The Virgin Islands
Another beautiful area, the Virgin Islands are naturally a most popular destination. Located at the northern end of the Leewards and just east of Puerto Rico they are an amazing group of about 60, mostly volcanic islands, named by Christopher Columbus when the profusion of peaks reminded him of the legend of St. Ursula and her 11,000 martyred virgins. They are an ideal cruising area with short sailing distances in sheltered waters, and ideal for first time charterers. The conditions are usually perfect for water-sports of any kind with many excellent dive sites; the beaches are beautiful; there are island treks and famous beach bars to enjoy before heading back to your yacht for dinner aboard in a quiet, calm anchorage.
