Yacht charters in the Bahamas
The Bahamas is a massive area to explore by charter yacht. Three island chains and over 700 low-lying islands with only 16 major islands and most of the rest, uninhabited. But covering some 100,000 square miles of the world’s clearest ocean they are an unmatched charter destination. World-class deep sea and fly fishing, spectacular diving locations, perfect white-sand beaches and sandbars, ideal conditions for a very wide range of water-sports and exceptional scenery for island treks.
Getting to The Bahamas couldn't be easier. Conveniently accessible by air with direct flights from many major cities.
Nassau the Capital is situated on the island of New Providence which with nearby Paradise Island has something for everyone including golf courses, old forts and colonial architecture, cosmopolitan dining and numerous beaches as well as the famous Atlantis an ocean-themed resort. On the first (or final) day of your luxury yacht charter why not head to Paradise Island and explore Atlantis, built on a grand scale it has a large casino, great restaurants and clubs, amazing aquariums and arguably some of the most spectacular waterslides in the world!
Your charter will most likely start in Nassau, from one of the full-service marinas, and then you would head off to the “Out” islands as they are known. You could spend the next month exploring if you have time, but even in the space of a week you could explore a good section of the Exumas chain of islands some 100 miles long.
The Bahamas have some of the finest beaches and best sea conditions in the world for swimming, snorkeling and underwater exploration. Within the Bahamas, the Exumas chain with hundreds of small low-lying cays of white sandy beaches and the clearest water conditions, is unbeatable as a charter destination. Ashore, there are small communities, historical sites, and some good cross-island treks. Highlights of your yacht charter could be to:
- feed the iguanas on Leaf Cay;
- swim with the nurse sharks at Compass cay;
- swim with the pigs at Big Major Cay;
- sit in the bubbling pool or snorkel the Thunderball Grotto;
- underwater exploration at Warderick Wells Marine Park;
- reef snorkeling or even sports fishing;
- and not to be missed, sundowners on a beautiful beach.
A good time to charter in the Bahamas is from late November onwards onwards through to the summer.
